Boeker named associate head coach

Kristin Boeker was promoted to
associate head coach on Friday.

SAN ANTONIO ? UTSA head soccer coach Steve Ballard announced Friday the promotion of assistant coach Kristin Boeker to associate head coach.

“For the last five years, I’ve had the good fortune of having one of the top assistants in the country.” Ballard said. “Kristin is a knowledgeable, dedicated and loyal individual who’s most deserving to be a head coach and I’m fortunate to have her on my staff.”

Boeker, who is in her second season at UTSA, had been with Ballard for more than five years. She began her coaching career in 2002 at Eastern Illinois, where the Panthers won three consecutive Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championships and made three straight trips to the NCAA College Cup. While at EIU, she helped guide the Panthers to a 36-18-9 record.

“Kristin has been an integral part of the creation and success of our soccer program and we want to make sure that we keep this staff together for many years to come.” Associate Athletic Director Elizabeth Dalton said. “What they have accomplished, from building the roster to the success on the field in their first two years of competition, has been outstanding and it is important for us to recognize and reward Kristin for her contributions.”

The Lake St. Louis, Mo., native enjoyed a stellar playing career at Missouri from 1997-2000. She helped lead the Tigers to their first NCAA College Cup appearance in 1999. As a freshman, she was an honorable mention Freshman All-American and named to the Freshman All-Central Region team by Soccer Buzz. She earned several Big 12 accolades during the 1998 season. Boeker was named second team All-Big 12 and Big 12 All-tournament team honoree.

Boeker established herself in the records books at Missouri. She is tied for sixth on Missouri’s all-time list with 81 games played and 19 goals. Boeker also ranks sixth with 74 shots on goals and 54 points and is eighth in assists (16).

"I would like to thank Coach Ballard and the UTSA Athletic Department for this promotion." Boeker said. "Coach Ballard is a tremendous coach and it has been an honor and pleasure to work with him for the past five years.  I have been privileged both as a player and a coach to be part of successful programs. I look forward to continuing that tradition here at UTSA."
