Roadrunners successful in day one of UTSA Invitational

? Senior Adam Becker and sophomore Rodrigo Morgado advanced to the semifinalsof the Blue Draw doubles, while Becker moved to the semifinals match of theOrange Draw singles on Friday at the UTSA Invitational.



The tandem of Becker and Morgado cruised past Bernstein andDornauf from UTPA 8-3 in their first-round match. The pair then handed Wilson andKustudija of Texas Tech an 8-4 loss in the quarterfinals. In the consolation bracket of the Blue Draw, junior RobinFernandes and freshman Daniel Moreiras moved on to the semifinals afterdefeating Martins and Domoney from Louisiana-Lafayette, 8-2.



In singles action, Becker collected a pair of wins to advance to thesemifinals on Saturday against Powers from St. Edward’s.

Meanwhile, sophomore Nenad Maric posted a three-setwin (3-6, 7-5, 6-1) against Mohinta from UTPA but later fell in the second round ofthe Orange Draw to Domoney from Louisiana-Lafayette in straight sets. In the Blue Draw singles, Morgado and Fernandes each movedon to the second round after collecting straight-set wins.

UTSA is back in action on Saturday morning.
