Freshman Kat Morel netted a career-high two goals, as the UTSA soccer team collected its first win of the season with a 7-0 victory at Texas Southern on Friday afternoon.

UTSA (1-1-1) scored early and often with five goals in the first half. Sophomore Chelsea Zimmerman got things started for the Roadrunners with her first winner of the season when she received a pass from sophomore Ezinne Okpo two minutes into the match. Morel then recorded her first collegiate goal to give UTSA a 2-0 advantage at the 31-minute mark. Freshman Laurel Dierking netted her first winner of the year at the 37:40 mark and, two minutes later, sophomore Chelsea Pack's goal gave UTSA a commanding 4-0 lead. Morel scored her second goal of the half with six minutes left, giving the Roadrunners a comfortable 5-0 edge.

Okpo's second goal of the season gave UTSA a 6-0 lead early in the second half, while sophomore Kim Gonzales' first goal on the year put the Roadrunners ahead 7-0 at the 82:57 mark.

UTSA held Texas Southern (0-2) to one shot, while the Roadrunners totaled a season-high 27 shots.

The Roadrunners travel to Lubbock for a non-conference match at Texas Tech on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
