Sophomore Faith Barlow finished in the top half of a 241-person field to lead the UTSA women’s cross country team to a 23rd-place showing on Saturday evening at the Stanford Invitational.

Barlow covered the women’s 6,000-meter loop in a time of 23:40 for 126th place to lead the Roadrunners, who scored 688 points for 23rd, just behind Pacific’s 672. Defending national champion and top-ranked Stanford won with 27 points, followed by Adams State (78) and UC Irvine (133).

Sophomore Katy Spence finished 174th in 24:48 in the team’s first 6k of the season. Meanwhile, freshman Jayde James was close behind in 184th in 25:01 and freshmen Baylee Holder and Alona Howard rounded out the top five in 190th (25:18) and 198th (25:43), respectively.

The Roadrunners return to the course next Saturday at the Incarnate Word Invitational in San Antonio.
