WACO ? Senior Adam Becker collected a pair of wins to advance to the round of 16 of the "B Draw" singles bracket on Friday at the seventh annual HEB Invitational.
Becker began the day by winning a three-set match against Piotr Olechowski (2-6, 6-4, 6-3). The Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, native dropped the first set but regrouped to win the next two sets to collect the victory. In the second round, Becker cruised past Murillo Viotto Martins in straight sets (6-3, 6-2) to move to the round of 16.
Also in action was sophomore Rodigo Morgado, who fell to Robert Rotaru in the first round of the "A Draw" singles bracket. Sophomore Nenad Maric dropped his match to Maciej Bogusz by a scores of 6-1, 6-3 and junior Robin Fernandes lost a tough three-set match to Matthais Wellerman.
Meanwhile, Daniel Morerias lost his collegiate debut to Jon Wiegand in three sets (6-7, 6-3, 3-6).
