SAN ANTONIO ? The UTSA women’s tennis team opens its fall season this weekend at the 27th Annual Rice Classic held at the Jake HessTennis Stadium in Houston.
Head coach Erin Boisclair, who begins her second season at UTSA, welcomes back six letterwinners and one newcomer this year. The Roadrunners finished the 2007 season with a 12-9 overall record and 6-5 mark in Southland Conference play, including a trip to the SLC Women’s Tennis Tournament.
Returning for UTSA are juniors Monika Drabkova and Karen Scida. Drabkova posted a career-high 13 wins in singles action, including a 9-2 record in SLC play. Scida recorded a career-best 12 victories in singles play, while going 7-4 in SLC play last season.
Meanwhile, senior Tanya Hasking returns for final year at UTSA. Hasking ended her 2007 season with a 9-9 singles record and 8-5 mark at the No. 4 singles position.
