DALLAS ? SMU jumped on UTSA early and often on Tuesday night and sent the Roadrunners to their fourth loss in the past five matches with a 30-20, 30-22, 30-20 victory at Moody Coliseum. UTSA dropped to 4-8 on the year, while the Mustangs improved to 8-3.
True freshman outside hitter Kendra Rowland paced UTSA with nine kills andjunior middle hitter Victoria Prior added seven winners. Junior libero AudreyHiser had 26 digs on defense, which was her fourth 20-plus effort in her lastsix matches. Freshman defensive specialist Dana Mecke (10) and Rowland (10)also were in double figures.
SMU was led by outside hitter Rachel Giubilato's 16 winnersand setter Stefanie Kons’ 33 assists. Outside hitter Kathryn Wilkerson had 25digs for the Mustangs.
The Roadrunners are back in action on Friday when they beginplay in the Lady Panther Invitational at Prairie View A&M. UTSA openstournament play at 11:30 a.m. against Air Force.
