LUBBOCK? The UTSA soccer team fell 4-1 at Texas Tech on Sunday afternoon innon-conference action.
After scoreless first half, both teams combined for fivegoals in the second frame. Texas Tech (2-2) scored the first goal of the match when Zhaleh Rezaieput the Red Raiders up 1-0 at the 49-minute mark. UTSA (1-2-1)tied the match at one when sophomore Ezinne Okpo netted her third goal of the season with 36:56 remaining in the second half. After Priscilla Esquivel gave Texas Tech a2-1 edge, Karen De Leon’s first goal of the season put the Red Raiders up 3-1 at the 67:03 mark. Jennifer Kammerer gave Tech a comfortable 4-1 lead at the75-minute mark of the match.
Junior goalkeeper Rachel Francis collected a season-high 11saves, while allowing two goals and sophomore Kasi Hebert posted one save. Okpoled UTSA with two shots, while sophomore Chelsea Zimmerman recorded one assist.Meanwhile, Rezaie posted a match-high 10 shots for Texas Tech, while Esquiveltotaled six.
UTSA continues its four-match road swing next week with a pair of non-conferencematches at TCU on Sept. 11 and at Texason Sept. 14.
