SAN MARCOS ? The UTSA men’s cross country teamfinished third at the Texas StateInvitational held Saturday morning at Gary Job Corps.
Freshman Brandon Chiuminetta and senior Eric Millerfinished 17th and 18th, respectively, to lead the UTSA men to a teamscore of 96 points for third place behind Texas (33) and Texas-PanAmerican (64) among 10 teams.
Chiuminetta covered the five-mile course in a time of27:56.00, while Miller crossed in 27:56.68. Sophomore Corey Vargas wasclos e behind in 20th (27:58.44), while freshman Josh Bart and seniorLarry Brooks rounded out the top five scorers in 22nd (28:01.58) and24th (28:12.10), respectively. Freshman Dominick Zucconi finished 28th(28:15.80). Kyle Miller of Texas won the men’s race in 25:36.43.
UTSA has next weekend off before hosting the RicardoRomo/Six Flags Fiesta Texas Classic on Friday-Saturday, Sept. 21-22, atBrooks City-Base.
