Kearney named to the SLC All-Academic Men?s Golf Team

SAN ANTONIO ? UTSA junior Thomas Kearney was named to the 2007 CapitalOne Bank/Southland Conference Men’s Golf All-Academic Team, the league office announced Friday morning.

Kearney a native of Donegal, Ireland, led the Roadrunners with a 72.89 overall stroke average and posted four top-10 finishes this season. Kearney capped off his 2007 season with a seventh-place finish at the SLC Golf Championships (216). The junior was named third-team All-SLC. Kearney posted a 3.25 GPA and is majoring in business.
To qualify for the all-academic team, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and participate in at least 50 percent of the team’s scheduled events. Freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible. Each member institution’s head coach, sports information director and academics coordinator are allowed to vote.
