Senior Ryanne Dupree bettered her school record in the 100-meter hurdles on Wednesday.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. ? UTSA senior All-American Ryanne Dupree improved her own school record in the 100-meter hurdles during first-round action at the NCAA Outdoor Championships held Wednesday at Hornet Stadium.

Dupree clocked a 13.23 in preliminary action to better her previous UTSA record of 13.24 set at the NCAA Midwest Regional two weeks ago in Des Moines, Iowa. The East Central High product finished third in her first-round heat and posted the 11th-fastest time out of 28 competitors to advance to the semifinals.

Dupree timed 13.32 to finish eighth in her semifinal heat later in the evening and did not advance to Friday’s final. Hampton’s Yvette Lewis posted a 13.06 to lead a group of nine athletes that survived Wednesday’s qualifying rounds.

She will begin her quest for a fourth All-America certificate on Thursday with day-one action in the heptathlon. Dupree enters the competition with the third-best score in the field, a school-record 5,818 points turned in at the Texas Relays in April. She previously earned All-America honors with a seventh-place finish in 2004 and an eighth-place showing in 2005 to go along with a fourth-place effort in the pentathlon at the 2006 NCAA Indoor.
