SAN ANTONIO ? UTSAhead baseball coach Sherman Corbett announced Monday the addition of ChrisGriffin (New Braunfels, Texas/Canyon HS) to his 2007-08 signingclass. He will join the Roadrunners this fall.
Griffin,a two-year letterman for head coach Peter Garza at New Braunfels Canyon HighSchool, posted a 10-3 record with a 2.08 ERA in 69 innings of work this pastseason. The 6-foot-4 right-hander also tossed four complete games, including a no-hitter, earned first-team All District 26-4A honors andhelped lead the Cougars to the regional quarterfinals. He finished his careerwith a 16-4 mark.
“Chris has great potential and I look forward toworking with him” Corbett said. “The success he had at the end of his highschool career is only the start of what he can achieve as he grows and develops.”
Griffinjoins Brett Aguilar (San Antonio, Texas/Reagan HS), Tyler Carpenter (SugarLand, Texas/Ford Bend Elkins HS), Ryan Hutson (Round Rock, Texas/Round RockHS), John Patterson (Frisco, Texas/Grayson CC/Frisco HS), Jason Pearce (Sachse,Texas/Naaman Forest HS), Kristopher Ruepke (Adel, Iowa/Iowa Central CC/ADM HS)and Derek Saltzgaber (Abilene, Texas/Wylie HS) as newcomers on the 2008 squad.
