SAN ANTONIO ? UTSA senior All-Americans Larry Brooks and Brandon Buteaux both earned invites to this year’s NCAA Outdoor Championships, as announced Tuesday. It will mark the first appearance at the national outdoor meet for both athletes.

“I am extremely proud of these two guys,” head coach Aaron Fox said. “They’ve worked hard over the past year and both of them will now try to add an All-America certificate to their indoor ones. This is their last shot to accomplish that feat.”

Brooks was an at-large selection in the 800 meters. The Stafford native, who ranks 21st nationally, got the nod for his school-record 1:48.44 performance set at the Oxy Invite on May 12.

Buteaux, meanwhile, was awarded a spot in the decathlon. The San Antonio native scored a personal-best 7,342 points in winning the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in April. He enters the meet with the eighth-best score in the country.

The four-day meet begins on Wednesday, June 6, in Sacramento, Calif.
