SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women’s tennis team rebounded from Thursday loss to Northwestern State with a dominating 7-0 performance on Friday morning against Central Arkansas at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners improved to 11-7 on the season and 5-4 in SLC play, while the Sugar Bears dropped to 4-16 overall and 1-9 in league action.
UTSA began the day winning all three doubles matches. Sophomore Monika Drabkova and freshman Holly Phillips cruised past Lindsey Short and Jordan Short, 8-1, at the No. 3 spot. Junior Tanya Hasking and sophomore Karen Scida gave the Roadrunners the doubles point with their 8-3 win at No. 1.
UTSA swept all six singles matches in straight sets. Scida made quick work of Petra Keilova 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 1 position, while senior Ana Paula Soto, who was playing her last match at UTSA, gave the Roadrunners a commanding 3-0 lead with her victory at No. 6. Phillips clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4.
The Roadrunners hit the road for a non-conference match at Rice on Friday, April 13.
