AUSTIN – Junior Will Vese and the Roadrunners’ 1,600-meter relay team advanced to the finals of the 80th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and junior Luke Johnson recorded a NCAA regional and personal-best mark in the shot put to highlight the UTSA men’s track & field team on Friday at Mike A. Meyers Stadium.
Vese, running in his third meet of the outdoor season, raced to his third NCAA Regional qualifying mark of the year with his 14.19 performance in the 110-meter hurdles preliminary heats to move into Saturday's final.
The 1,600m relay squad of senior Scott Briscoe, junior Dominic Brown, senior Larry Brooks and sophomore Gaston Griffin circled the oval in 3:10.16 to advance to tomorrow’s final. The quartet just missed a regional mark by .16 seconds.
In the shot put, junior Luke Johnson picked up his first regional mark of the year when he recorded a personal-best measure of 16.85 meters (55-3 ½) in finishing fourth.
The meet concludes on Saturday.
