Netters drop 5-2 decision against Northwestern State

SAN ANTONIO
– The UTSA women’s tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision against Northwestern State on Thursday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center.

The Roadrunners, who have dropped four of their last five matches, dropped to 10-7 on the season and 4-4 in league play. Meanwhile, the Lady Demons improved to 9-8 overall and 5-5 in conference play.

Northwestern State started off the match winning the doubles point at No. 1 and No. 2 slots.

In singles action, the Lady Demons won four of the six matches. UTSA tied the match at one by default at No. 6. However, Northwestern State pushed its lead to 3-1 when Marine Neveu and Daniela Posada won at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, in straight sets. Sophomore Monika Drabkova pulled the Roadrunners within one at 3-2 after collecting an easy 6-3, 6-3, win against Magali Van Den Bergh, but Catalina Villegas’ 7-6, 6-0 victory at No. 2 clinched the match for Northwestern State.

UTSA closes out its home schedule against Central Arkansas at 10 a.m. on Friday.
