FRISCO ? UTSA sophomore Leanne Risberg was tabbedAeropostale/Southland Conference Hitter of the Week for her performanceat the plate in a three-game series at Stephen F. Austin last weekend,the league office announced Monday.
Risberg batted .500 with three home runs, five runs batted in and fiveruns scored to help lead UTSA to a 2-1 series win at SFA in Nacogdoches. TheNew Orleans, La., native was 2-for-4 with a home run and at least oneRBI in all three games and posted a slugging percentage of 1.250 and anon-base percentage of .500 for the week. Hertwo-run blast in game two helped break open an 11-2 victory for theRoadrunners, who at 16-8 in the league remain in a tie with Sam HoustonState (14-7) for second place by winning percentage (.667).
Risberg now has 13 home runs on the season and is hitting .361 in SLC play, with a .324 overall batting average.
Sam Houston State’s Morgan Mikulin picked up Pitcher of the Week accolades.
UTSA hosts Sam Houston State this weekend in a key SLC series atRoadrunner Field. Firs pitch in a Saturday doubleheader is set for 1p.m., followed by a single game at noon Sunday.
