FRISCO ? Senior Nate Avila, junior Adam Becker and freshman Rodrigo Morgado were named to the 2007 All-Southland Conference teams, the league announced on Thursday. Morgado, who also was named the league's Freshman of the Year, finished the season with a 14-6 overall singles record,including a 12-2 mark at No. 2 singles and a perfect 6-0 in SLC play atNo. 2. He is the third Roadrunner to win the award in the last five seasons, joining sophomore Andre Moreira, who won it in 2006, and Jonas Hoglund, who earned it in 2003.
Meanwhile, Becker went 5-1 in SLC play at No. 6 singles. He ended the 2007 campaign with a 14-7 record, while going 8-3 at No. 6. Last season, Becker collected first-team honors at No. 3 doubles.
Avila garnered his first all-conference award when he was named second-team at No. 5 singles. Avila went 6-8 at No. 5 singles and finished the season 9-11 overall.
No. 3 seed UTSA will face No. 6 seed Texas-Pan American in first-round action of the SLC Tournament on Friday, April 20, at the UTSA Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
