McMillan, Ruffin recognized as All-America athletes

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) recently awarded UTSA seniors Erin McMillan (volleyball) and Josh Ruffin (baseball) with its annual All-American Strength & Conditioning Athlete of the Year award, which recognizes their dedication to strength training and conditioning.

Nominated by UTSA strength & conditioning coach Michael Cox, McMillan and Ruffin have been standout contributors for their respective teams the past four years.

“Erin’s dedication to training and preparation has led to one of the most stellar careers in school history,” Cox said. “In four seasons, she missed just one match and that is a testament to her hard work in the weight room.”

“On a team loaded with talent, there is no doubt who the leader is,” Cox said. “Rarely does a team have a player so respected by his peers and Josh’s work ethic in the weight room has paid dividends on the field.”

This year, the NCSA awarded 239 student-athletes from 165 schools with this esteemed honor. In its 28th year, the program is made possible by a grant from Power Systems, Inc.
