KERRVILLE – Junior Thomas Kearney carded a three-under-par 69 and is tied for third place after Tuesday’s second round of the Southland Conference Men’s Golf Championships.
Kearney is five-under-par (70-69=139) for the tournament and trails Lamar’s Dawie Van Der Walt, who is seven-under-par with a 72-65=137. Senior Matt Johnston is tied for 10th place with a 73-74=147 (+3), while sophomore Kyle Collins and junior Phillip Krohn each shot a four-over-par on the day and are tied for 13th place. Also in action is freshman Simon Merry, who is tied for 20th with a 77-74=151.
In team standings, the Roadrunners shot a 291 in day two and stand in third place. Lamar extended its lead to 24 strokes after firing a 269 on the day.
Wednesday's final round begins at 8 a.m. at the Comanche Trace Golf Course.
