KERRVILLE – Junior Thomas Kearney fired a two-under-par 70 and is tied for first place following Monday's first round of the 2007 Southland Conference Men’s Golf Championships.
Senior Matt Johnston and junior Phillip Krohn each shot a one-over-par 73 and are tied for eighth place, while sophomore Kyle Collins is tied for 11th with a two-over-par 74. Freshman Simon Merry, who is tied for 20th, carded a 77 on the day.
In team standings, the Roadrunners turned in a day-one total of 290 (+2) and trail defending champion Lamar by six strokes, which shot a 284.
The second round begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday at the Comanche Trace Golf Course.
