SAN ANTONIO - The UTSA men’s golf team concludes its regular season at the 2007 Southland Conference Men’s Golf Championships in Kerrville this week. The three-day tournament will be played at the Comanche Trace Golf Course (7,103 yards/par 72).
The Roadrunners finished in 14th place with a 305-305-326=936 at the Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic held at the Wichita Country Club on April 2-3.
Senior Matt Johnston shot a final-round 81 and finished tied for 39th place, while sophomore Kyle Collins ended his day one stroke behind Johnston (75-75-81=231). Freshman Simon Merry turned in a 78-77-81=236 and was tied for 54th place.
Last season, the Roadrunners finished in second place and were eight strokes behind Lamar. UTSA’s John Elizondo captured the individual medalist honors by one stroke (213) over Lamar’s Casey Clendenon, who shot a 214.
