Roadrunners post 11 top-six finishes at David Noble Angelo State Relays

Led by junior Chelsea Malina’s runner-up performance in the javelin, the UTSA women’s track & field team turned in 11 top-six finishes at the David Noble Relays hosted by Angelo State on Saturday at the Multipurpose Sports Complex.

Malina tossed the javelin to a 126-9 measure for second place behind Melesia Mafile’o of New Mexico College (132-10).

Four Roadrunners posted third-place finishes, highlighted by a 4:52.14 clocking for senior Hope Jimenez in the 1,500 meters. Sophomore Brittney Britton earned bronze in the 800m in 2:18.89, while sophomore Rikki Gray and freshman Natalie Squier tied for third in the high jump after both cleared 5-1.

A pair of freshmen posted fourth-place finishes. Dana Mecke clocked an 11:58.11 in the 3,000m steeplechase while Farrah Moore ran 2:33.23 in the development section of the 800m.

Jimenez (800m, 2:19.77) and junior Kari Michalik (heptathlon, 4,463) finished fifth and Allen (heptathlon, 4,458) and freshman Faith Barlow (1,500m, 5:04.59) registered sixth-place showings.

The Roadrunners return to action next Thursday-Saturday, April 19-21, at the Kansas Relays.
