ATHENS, Ga. – Sophomore Ashley Jackson finished second in the 200 meters and anchored the 4x100m relay to a runner-up showing to highlight a strong effort by the UTSA women’s track & field team on Saturday at the Spec Towns Invitational.

Jackson raced to a 24.25 clocking for runner-up honors in the deuce behind Shalonda Solomon (23.09) of perennial track powerhouse South Carolina. The Corpus Christi King High product also brought home the 4x100m relay team of sophomore Shanelle Slaughter, junior Brittany Epps and senior Ryanne Dupree in 46.40, just behind South Carolina’s 46.36.

She already owns a conference-leading 13.40 from the Texas Relays last week. Senior Lyndsey Sidney and freshman Jessica Jones placed fifth (14.66) and sixth (14.77), respectively.

The 4x400m relay team of senior Diane Smith, Jackson, Dupree and Epps took third with a 3:44.37 clocking behind South Carolina (3:40.66) and Minnesota (3:42.04).
