HORSESHOE BAY – Sophomore Laura Baker shot a final-round 84 on Wednesday and finished in a ninth-place tie at the 2007 Southland Conference Women’s Golf Championships at the Ram Rock Golf Course.
Baker ended the championship at 20-over-par (75-74-84=233), while junior Lesan Gouge started the day tied for 36th place, but shot a one-over 73 (86-85-73=244) to finish tied for 23rd. Freshman Shelly Martinez ended the day tied for 28th with an 83-84-80=247 and junior Allie Jordan, who finished tied for 36th, carded an 83-88-83=254.
In team standings, the Roadrunners fired a 316 on the final day to finish in seventh place with a three-day total of 972. Sam Houston State turned in a 308-300-304=912 to capture the SLC Championship.
