FRISCO — UTSA senior All-American Ryanne Dupree has been named Aeropostale/Southland Conference Women’s Outdoor Track & Field co-Athlete of the Week, her third honor of the season, the league office announced Tuesday.
The East Central High product Dupree continued her record-setting ways last week at the prestigious Texas Relays in Austin, demolishing her own school record in the heptathlon with a runner-up showing in one of the best fields in the nation. The three-time All-American posted an NCAA automatic-qualifying 5,817 points to better her previous UTSA standard of 5,584 set last month at the UTSA Relays by 233 points. Her total, which was second only to the best mark in the world this year (6,204 by Diana Pickler of Washington State), also was a 211-point improvement from her previous personal-best of 5,606 posted at the 2006 Texas Relays while competing unattached. The 19-person field saw five athletes meet the auto standard of 5,500 and 11 others eclipse the provisional mark of 5,050.
