FRISCO - Senior All-American Brandon Buteaux was named Aeropostale/Southland Conference Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Buteaux made the most out of his first decathlon in nearly two years by winning the 80th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays title on Thursday with an NCAA provisional qualifying 7,342 points. The San Antonio native, who redshirted last year's outdoor campaign, now ranks second in the country and he shattered his previous personal best of 7,218 points set at the 2004 Texas Relays. He entered Thursday's final five events as the day one leader with 3,871 points.
UTSA is back in action on Saturday when it travels to San Angelo for the David Noble Angelo State Relays.
