Baker stands in fourth-place tie at SLC Championships

HORSESHOE BAY
– Sophomore Laura Baker turned in a four-over par 75 and is tied for fourth place after first-round action at the 2007 Southland Conference Women’s Golf Championships at the Ram Rock Golf Course.

Baker is four strokes behind day one leader Therese Nilsson of Lamar, who shot an even-par 71. Meanwhile, freshman Shelly Martinez and sophomore Allie Jordan carded an 83 on the day and are tied for 26th place. Junior Lesan Gouge finished tied for 33rd with an 86.

In team standings, the Roadrunners are in seventh place with a 327, while first-round leader Lamar shot a 306. Texas State’s 307 on the day trails the Lady Cardinals by just one stroke.

UTSA resumes play at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
