SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women’s golf team closes out its season at the 2007 Southland Conference Golf Championships beginning Monday at the Applerock Golf Course (5,843 yards/par 72) in Horseshow Bay.
The Roadrunners are coming off a ninth-place finish at the Duck Invitational on March 26-27 with a two-day total of 324-333-316=973. Junior Lesan Gouge ended the tournament with a 78-82-77=237 and tied for 21st place, while freshman Madison McClain finished six strokes behind her (83-76-84=243). Sophomore Laura Baker concluded her tournament tied for 38th after carding an 84-85-76=245.
Last season, UTSA competed in its first ever SLC championships and finished sixth with a 336-329-336=1001. Meanwhile, Baker had the best showing for the Roadrunners finishing tied for second-place after shooting a 73-74-81=228.
