FRISCO – For the second time this season, sophomore Karen Scida was named Aeropostale/Southland Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, the league’s office announced on Wednesday. The Tucuman, Argentina, native first received the weekly honor on Feb. 27.
Scida won her singles and doubles matches last weekend against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. She helped the Roadrunners defeat Islanders, 4-3, on Saturday. Scida paired up with junior Tanya Hasking at No. 1 doubles for an 8-6 win against Carmen Abeaboeru and Erika Iriart. Her singles match against Abeaboeru clinched the victory, as she won a tough three-setter by scores of 7-6, 3-6, 7-6.
UTSA returns to action at 1 p.m. on Thursday against Northwestern State at the UTSA Tennis Center.
