SAN ANTONIO - The UTSA men's track & field team returns to action this week when it travels to Austin for the 80th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. The prestigious four-day meet begins on Wednesday at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas. Seven Roadrunners will compete in eight different individual events and UTSA also will run in three relays.
Leading the way will be senior All-Americans Larry Brooks and Brandon Buteaux, both of whom will be in action on Wednesday. Buteaux will compete in his first decathlon in two years, while Brooks will make his outdoor 800 meters debut. Sophomore Tommy Wolfe also will see action during the meet's opening day, joining Buteaux in the decathlon, which runs through Thursday.
Junior Luke Johnson begins his busy week the following day when he competes in the hammer. Johnson also will throw the shot put and discus on Friday.
NCAA Regional qualifiers Will Vese (110m hurdles/Friday) and Johnathan Whittaker (high jump/Saturday) also will be action later this week, while senior Benson Cheserek will run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday night.
Brooks, freshman Bryan Ugochukwu, junior Eric Miller and senior Adrian Vargas will make up the Roadrunners' 3,200-meter relay squad that runs on Thursday, while senior Scott Briscoe, junior Dominic Brown, Brooks and sophomore Gaston Griffin will run in the 1,600-meter relay on Friday. The 800-meter relay team of junior Cedric Harris, junior Steven Brown, Briscoe and freshman Teddy Williams will compete on Saturday.
