SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men’s tennis team collected its first win over a nationally-ranked opponent with a 6-1 victory against No. 75 San Francisco on Saturday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center. The Roadrunners won their fifth match in a row and improved to 7-4 overall, while the Dons fell to 5-3 on the year.

UTSA began the day on a positive note by winning two of the three doubles matches for the early 1-0 lead.

The Roadrunners then went on to take five of the six singles matches. Senior Nate Avila and junior Adam Becker pushed the lead to 3-0 when they came off the court with wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, respectively. Freshman Rodrigo Morgado’s straight-set win (6-3, 7-5) against Rainer Nachbauer at the No. 2 slot clinched the match.

Also in action were freshman Nenad Maric, who won at the No. 4 spot, and sophomore Andre Moreira, who was victorious at No. 3.

UTSA returns to action against nationally-ranked East Tennessee State on Monday, March 5. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center.
