FRISCO – Senior Ryanne Dupree was named Aeropostale/Southland Conference Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week for the second week in a row, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Dupree continued her outstanding start to the outdoor season at last weekend’s UTSA Relays.
She shattered the meet record in the heptathlon, punching her ticket to the NCAA Championships with an automatic-qualifying and school-record 5,584 points. The San Antonio native eclipsed her old UTSA standard of 5,575 points set in 2005 and broke junior Ashley Allen’s meet record of 4,937 set last year.
Dupree also won the 100-meter hurdles in 13.56, her third NCAA regional qualifier in as many weeks and second-fastest performance of the year. She also was a member of the 800-meter relay squad that passed the baton in 1:39.74 to defend their 2005 title.
UTSA is back in action on Saturday when it travels to Austin for the Texas Invitational.
