Men?s tennis drops 5-2 decision on Saturday

ARLINGTON – The UTSA men’s tennis team fell 5-2 against Columbia in non-conference action on Saturday. The Roadrunners dropped to 9-6 on the season, while the Lions improved 7-2.

The Lions opened the match by winning all three doubles matches for the early 1-0 lead.

Columbia jumped to a 3-0 advantage when Jonathan Wong and Michael Accordino came off the court with straight-set wins at the No. 4 and No. 6 spots. However, the Roadrunners pulled within one with victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Freshman Rodrigo Morgado won a tough three-set match against Mark Clemente at the No. 2 slot (2-6, 6-3, 6-1), while sophomore Andre Moreira cruised past Marty Moore with a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 3. The Lions sealed the match winning the last two matches at the No. 1 and No. 5 positions.

UTSA returns to action tomorrow morning with a Southland Conference match at Texas-Arlington. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m.
