FRISCO – Sophomore Robin Fernandes was named Aeropostale Southland Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced on Wednesday. It marks the second time in the last three weeks, as he first received the honor on Feb. 27.
Fernandes posted a 2-0 record at No. 1 singles and 2-0 mark at No. 1 doubles last week in helping UTSA defeat Connecticut (March 8) and Lamar (March 10). He started the week with a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Ben Schueler and teamed up with Adam Becker for an 8-2 victory over Joe Goldstein and Schueler. Fernandes then collected a straight-set win against Filip Kanczula (6-2, 6-3) and paired up with Becker for an 8-3 win against Maciej Bogusz and Kanczula.
The Roadrunners are back in action when they travel to Texas-Arlington on Saturday, March 17.
