UTSA women ready for Bobcat Open on Friday

SAN ANTONIO — Coming off a solid showing in the outdoor season opener last Saturday, the UTSA women’s track & field team makes the short trip up I-35 to San Marcos to compete in the Bobcat Open this Friday, March 9. Field events get underway at 11 a.m., followed by running events on a rolling schedule at 3:30 p.m.

Senior All-American Ryanne Dupree made her outdoor debut last weekend at the Border Olympics in Laredo, winning the 100-meter hurdles with an NCAA regional-qualifying time of 13.51. She also finished second in the javelin (118-1) and helped the 4x100m (46.85) and 4x400m (3:56.26) relay teams to victory.

Sophomore Ashley Jackson shined in the 200m, clocking a winning time of 24.37, as well as running on both winning relays, while senior Hope Jimenez won the 800m (2:17.50) and junior Chelsea Malina took top honors in the javelin (126-2).
