CORPUS CHRISTI - The UTSA women’s golf team stands in 14th place after day one of the Ed Hicks Nissan Islander Classic held at the Corpus Christ Country Club.
Freshman Shelly Martinez and sophomore Laura Baker are tied for 34th place with a first and second round total of 156. Junior Lesan Gouge is tied for 57th, after carding a 76-80=160, while freshman Madison McClain is three strokes behind Gouge (78-82=163). Also in action was freshman Kayla McBride, who finished tied for 65th place with a 81-83=164.
In individual action, sophomore Allie Jordan finished the day tied for 47th (80-77=157) and sophomore Michelle Kowalick is in 85th.
The third and final round will begin at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
