FRISCO – After helping UTSA clinch a berth in the O’Reilly/Southland Conference Tournament with two wins last week, senior Vivian Ewalefo claimed her first career Aerpostale/Southland Conference Player of the Week honor, the league office announced on Monday.
She becomes the second Roadrunner to win the weekly honor this season, joining Monica Gibbs, who won the award on Feb. 5.
Ewalefo, who currently ranks fourth in the league in scoring (16.3), averaged 25.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in victories against McNeese State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Against McNeese State on Thursday, Ewalefo netted a career-high 28 points with three steals and two blocks in the 87-46 win. In Saturday’s 61-43 win against A&M-Corpus Christi, she posted her sixth double-double of the season with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
UTSA hits the road this Thursday when it plays at Sam Houston State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
