SAN ANTONIO - Senior Vivian Ewalefo's career-high 28 points in 21 minutes of action led the UTSA women's basketball team to an easy 87-46 victory against McNeese State on Thursday night at the Convocation Center.

The Roadrunners shot a season-high 57.9 percent from the field, including 60% in the first half, while the Roadrunners' defense held the Cowgirls to 29% shooting on the night.

Ewalefo was 10-of-17 from the floor for the Roadrunners (10-15, 6-7 SLC). Sophomore Monica Gibbs posted her second straight and ninth overall double-double of the year with 12 points and 10 rebounds and also dished out eight assists. Senior Ana Oliveira tied her career-high with 12 points and grabbed a career-best six boards.

McNeese State (2-24, 0-13 SLC) dropped its 20th game in a row and remained winless in league play. Courtnee Hollins and Shante Perry led the Cowgirls with 10 points apiece.

UTSA stormed to a 21-9 lead when sophomore Courtney Laing was good on a layup with 9:15 to go in the first half. The Cowgirls then used a 10-4 run over the next 2:36 to pull within six points at 25-16. This would be the closet McNeese State would get for the reminder of the game, as the Roadrunners responded with their own run (18-4), as sophomore Tia Bogan scored eight straight points at one point.

Ewalefo scored the first 10 points of the second half to help UTSA extend its lead to 53-26 with 16:43 remaining. A 3-pointer by Shonice Sprouse got McNeese State within 25 points (65-40), but the Roadrunners outscored the Cowgirls 22-6 in the final eight minutes for the 41-points victory.

UTSA returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 7 p.m.
