COLLEGE STATION —
Sophomore Leanne Risberg collected her sixth hit and fourth RBI of the weekend, but back-to-back home runs from Jami Lobpries and Ronda Smith in the sixth inning helped seal a 7-1 victory for No. 3 Texas A&M on Sunday in the final game of the Aggie Classic.

Risberg capped a solid weekend with a 1-for-3, one-RBI showing at the plate Sunday as the Roadrunners, 3-7 on the season, finished third in the tournament with a 2-3 record. The New Orleans, La., native batted .462 with two doubles and a home run in the five games.

Trailing 4-0 in the top of the sixth inning, freshman Rudi Cantu singled on the infield, advanced to second on a passed ball and to third on a wild pitch before scoring on a groundball out off the bat of Risberg.

The Aggies answered in the bottom of the inning as Lobpries homered down the left field line to plate Megan Gibson, who walked to start the frame, and Smith went yard to right to put A&M up 7-1.

A 1-2-3 seventh kept A&M undefeated on the year at 10-0.

The Aggies built the 4-0 lead with two runs in each of their first two at-bats. Amanda Scarborough lined a two-run single to left to plate Sharonda McDonald and Jami Hinshaw in the first. Macie Morrow’s single to center scored McDonald, who finished the day 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and Joy Davis in the second.

Scarborough (5-0) was tough in the circle, allowing one unearned run and striking out seven in the complete-game win. Junior Amanda Nikolenko (2-6) was tagged with the loss for UTSA.

The Roadrunners travel to Santa Barbara, Calif., to play in the UCSB Mini-Tournament on Friday-Sunday, Feb. 23-25.
