LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The UTSA men’s tennis team picked up its fourth victory of the season with an easy 7-0 victory against Northern Colorado (3-3) on Sunday morning at the New Mexico State Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners (4-4) took a 1-0 lead against the Bears by winning all three doubles matches. The tandem of sophomore Robin Fernandes and junior Adam Becker completed their perfect weekend when they won at the No. 1 position.
UTSA won all six singles matches in straight sets. Fernandes and freshman Rodrigo Morgado picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 2 positions to give the Roadrunners a 3-0 advantage. At No. 3, freshman Nenad Maric cruised past Austin Nunn (6-1, 6-0), while sophomore Andre Moreira handed Kollmon Gearhart a 6-3, 6-3 loss. Also picking up victories were Becker and senior Nate Avila at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots, respectively
The Roadrunners are back in action next weekend when they return home for their Southland Conference opener against Southeastern Louisiana. First serve is scheduled for noon on Saturday, Feb. 24, at the UTSA Tennis Center.
