SAN MARCOS — Texas State’s Ragan Blake hurled a two-hitter and Texas State defeated UTSA, 3-0, in the consolation game of the CenturyTel Classic on Sunday.

Blake (1-2) struck out seven and walked just two batters in the complete-game victory, as Texas State improved to 1-4 on the year.

Senior Aimee Murray and redshirt freshman Kelly Cato had the only hits of the day, a pair of doubles, for the Roadrunners (1-4).

Ali McCormack put the Bobcats on the board in the top of the first with a single through the left side of the infield that plated Amy Krueger, who had reached on a double to left center field.

The Roadrunners threatened in the third as Cato led off with an infield double and sophomore Leanne Risberg was hit by a pitch to put two runners on. Blake worked out of the jam, inducing a lineout to second base to end the inning.

The Bobcats added a pair of runs in the sixth. McCormack struck again with a solo home run to right center and then back-to-back doubles by Leah Boatright and Jetta Weinheimer made it 3-0 Texas State.

UTSA had two baserunners in the bottom of the sixth as Risberg was hit by a pitch again, but was erased on a double play, and Murray was stranded after a two-out double to left center.

Junior Amanda Nikolenko allowed one run on three hits in three and two-thirds innings of work in the loss.

The Roadrunners travel to College Station next weekend to play in the Aggie Classic.
