Brooks provisionally qualifies in 800 meters at Washington Invitational

SEATTLE, Wash. — Senior Larry Brooks completed UTSA's successful weekend of men's track & field action by running an NCAA provisional 1:49.62 in the 800 meters at the Washington Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Chris Layman recorded a pair of personal bests on the day, recording a 4:18.64 in the mile and 8:48.60 in the 3,000 meters, while senior Benson Cheserek just missed a personal best in the mile by .45 seconds (4:17.79).

The 800 meters saw four Roadrunners — junior Eric Miller (1:54.15), freshman Bryan Ugochukwu (1:56.43); senior Adrian Vargas (1:57.19) and freshman Corey Vargas (1:57.56) — all set personal bests.

The Roadrunners are back in action next weekend when they travel to Houston for the second time in three weeks for the Houston Classic at Bill Yeoman Field House. The two-day meet gets underway on Friday, Feb. 2.
