SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men’s track & field team is back in action this weekend, as it will compete in two meets out West beginning Friday.
Seventeen athletes will make the trip to Flagstaff, Ariz., to compete in the Northern Arizona Team Challenge on Friday, while seven distance runners will participate at the Washington Invitational in Seattle, Wash., the following day.
UTSA is coming off a fourth-place finish at last Friday’s Leonard Hilton Memorial in Houston. Junior Will Vese led the way for the second week in a row, recording his second NCAA provisional time in as many weeks in winning the 60-meter hurdles in 7.91. The Houston native was named the Southland Conference’s men’s Track & Field of the Week for his performance. Sophomore Gaston Griffin was the Roadrunners‘ other first-place finisher, as he raced to a 48.90 in claiming the 400 meters title.
