ARLINGTON - Texas-Arlington handed the UTSA women’s basketball team a 67-38 defeat in Southland Conference action on Tuesday night at Texas Hall. The Roadrunners shot a season-low 29 percent from the floor and connected on just 13 field goals. UTSA dropped to 6-11 overall and 2-3 in SLC action, while the Mavericks improved to 11-8 and a perfect 6-0 in conference games.

Senior Vivian Ewalefo led the Roadrunners with a game-high 19 points and hauled in 10 rebounds to record her third double-double of the season. Sophomore Monica Gibbs added 10 points.

Texas-Arlington was led by Terra Wallace’s 14 points, while Tiffeny Riles and Tojjinay Thompson contributed 13 and 12, respectively.

UTSA grabbed its only lead of the game at the 9:30 mark in the first half (10-9) when Gibbs connected on layup. However, the Mavericks went on a 24-4 run to close out the half and led 33-14 heading into the locker room.

UTA scored the first eight points of the second half to push its lead to 40-14. A Gibbs layup and Ewalefo jumper ended a four-minute scoreless drought to pull UTSA within 25 points (43-18), but it would be the closet the Roadrunners would get the rest of the night. Texas-Arlington built its largest lead of the game, 37 points (67-30), on a layup by Candice Champion.
The Roadrunners hit the road for a league contest at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday. Tip off is scheduled for noon at the American Bank Center.
