Epps leaped to an 18-2 ½ measure to win the long jump late Friday evening, nipping Texas-Arlington’s Angela Gonzales (18-1 ¾). Sophomore Shanelle Slaughter finished ninth with a 16-4 ½ effort.
Freshman Jessica Jones posted the second-fastest time in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles, crossing in 8.87 in her first race as a Roadrunner.
The Roadrunners return to action at the Roger Cox Multis and Dan DeHart Invitational held next Friday-Saturday, Jan. 26-27, in Albuquerque, N.M.
