Roadrunners to compete at NCAA South Central Regional

SAN ANTONIO - Five members of the men’s and women’s cross country teams will represent UTSA at the NCAA South Central Regional hosted by Baylor on Saturday, Nov. 11, at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco.

The women’s 6,000-meter race is set to begin at 10 a.m., followed by the men’s 10k at 11:15 a.m. For complete meet information and results, please visit BaylorBears.com.

The men will travel four runners - seniors Aaron Castro and Benson Cheserek, junior Adrian Vargas and freshman Corey Vargas. Last year, Cornelio Castanon finished 78th as an individual at the regional meet, while two years ago, the men placed 16th behind a 79th-place effort from Jaziel Crisostomo.

Senior Hope Jimenez, an All-Southland Conference performer, will represent the women’s team. Current senior Veronica Silva was 50th as an individual last year, while the women placed 14th behind a 63rd-place showing from Rita Lambert at the 2004 NCAA South Central Regional.
