NATCHITOCHES, La. – UTSA and Northwestern State battled to scoreless tie in Southland Conference action on Thursday night at Turpin Stadium.
The Roadrunners' record moved to 6-8-2 overall and 3-1-2 in SLC action and the first-year squad moved into a first-place tie in the league standings with 11 points. The Lady Demons' ledger now stands at 8-7-2 and 3-2-1.
Junior goalkeeper Rachel Francis made two saves and collected her fifth shutout of the season. UTSA held a 9-4 shot advantage and freshman Kylee Hix led the team with three shots, including two on goal.
In the first half, UTSA outshot Northwestern State 6-1, but NSU goalie Krystle Donaldson made three saves to keep the first frame scoreless.
In the second half, both combined for four shots, but Francis’ save kept the game tied, sending it to overtime. Both goalies made saves in the extra period to keep the game scoreless and it ended in a draw.
UTSA returns to action at 1 p.m. on Sunday when it hosts McNeese State in its regular season finale.
