UTSA women?s tennis team has strong showing at the ITA Regionals

FORT WORTH – The UTSA women’s tennis team had a strong showing at the ITA Regionals on Thursday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

In the qualifying round, junior Tanya Hasking and sophomores Sandra Kukla and Monika Drabkova collected wins in straights sets, while sophomore Karen Scida fell to Michelle Sammons of Texas A&M (6-4, 6-3).

Kukla moved on to the round of 16, after defeating UTEP’s Megan Pritchard by a score of 6-3, 6-4. Both Hasking and Drabkova fell in second round.

In doubles action, Hasking and Scida paired up for the 8-2 win against Kristina Collins and Christine Majchrowiz, while Drabkova and freshman Holly Phillips dropped their doubles match to Emily Braid and Alanna Rodgers from Rice (8-3).

UTSA is in action all day tomorrow, with first serve scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
