HOUSTON – The UTSA women’s tennis team concluded play at the Rice Invitational on Sunday.
In the blue singles bracket, sophomore Karen Scida defeated Rice’s Alanna Rodgers in straight sets (6-1, 6-1), while sophomore Monika Drabkova won the gray singles consolation bracket over fellow teammate junior Tanya Hasking. Freshman Holly Phillips won her singles match over Prairie View A&M’s Whittingham (6-0, 6-0).
In doubles action, sophomore Nathalie Wallin and sophomore Sandra Kukla defeated Rodgers and Lin of Rice, 9-8, while Scida and Hasking won their match over Rice’s Chao and Lee, 8-6.
UTSA returns to action on Oct.19-24 at the Wilson/ITA Regional in Fort Worth.
